About Shawna

I am often asked, “when did you know you had a special intuitive ability?”  The answer is, I didn’t know for most of my life. What I did know as a child, was that I had a rich inner life where I observed the people and world around me and sensed there was so much more going on than met the eye. When a new girl in my second-grade class walked in for the first time, I felt I knew everything about her before she spoke her name. This sixth sense experience of knowing people in a multi-dimensional way felt normal to me, even if I didn’t have the language to explain it.

I’ve always been aware of having two voices, both of which were mine. With one voice, I could speak out loud and communicate with other people. The other voice was more internal. It explained to me what was happening as it happened. The fact that I might be highly intuitive or psychic never occurred to me.

More than 3 decades later, after a whirlwind of adventures, an exhilarating career as an executive in the film business, world travel and starting a family, I had an unexpected, extraordinary, deeply spiritual experience that changed my life.

One day while my son was at pre-school, I sat down to meditate. After my mind quieted down and I was drifting into a sweet calm it was abruptly disrupted by what I can only describe as a story being told to me by a young boy I didn’t recognize. His voice was clear as a bell. His story was filled with specific, intimate and traumatic details. I opened my eyes to see if someone was there. I didn’t see a person but his strong energetic presence was close and palpable. Closing my eyes again his story continued to unfold. He was asking for my help. As if I had done it this a thousand times before, my heart opened, the room filled with light, he moved toward me, offered me a gift and then he was gone. Next, a blissful energy unlike anything I had ever experienced before, ran through my entire body.

The experience defied logic but was transcendent.  It was less the extraordinary nature of it and more my choice to trust it was real, rather than dismiss it as nonsense, that lead me down an unexpected but deeply transformative path, that changed my life forever.

I launched my intuitive consulting practice, The Conscious Enterprise, after mentoring with a number of gifted intuitives to hone and deepen my gift.  As an intuitive and spiritual medium, I have been supporting and mentoring thousands of clients on personal and professional matters as well as spiritual development for over 15 years.

I am grateful, every day, for allowing this powerful aspect of myself to define the work I do. It brings me immeasurable joy and fulfillment to be able to help others in this way.

Before launching my intuitive consulting and mentoring company, The Conscious Enterprise, I:

  • Attended Catholic convent school for girls from K- 12th grade. Some of the nuns were wonderful, some were scary, but the tender sound of them singing in the chapel transported me to another world.
  • Learned Transcendental Meditation at thirteen years old. I devoured Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, and all the poetry of Robinson Jeffers I could find.
  • Moved from Kentucky to New York City to receive a BA from Barnard College at the height of the women’s liberation movement. This small-town girl had to learn, grow and change quickly in ways I am grateful for every day.
  • Started an off-off Broadway repertory theatre company, New York City Stage, with a college friend. I never slept, made no money to speak of but had the time of my life pursuing my dream to produce and direct.  I still adore live theatre.
  • Enjoyed a demanding career in publicity and promotion as an executive in the film business with Paramount Pictures and Tri-Star. I stayed for 15 years until it occurred to me it might be a good idea to have a personal life.
  • Traveled the world, mostly on my own, for two years. I lived out of one large suitcase (I am, unapologetically, not the “backpacking-it” type). Visiting countries where I couldn’t speak the language was one of the most liberating experiences of my life.
  • Became a mother at age 44 to an amazing boy, now young man, named Walker. There are no words for how grateful I am to be his mom.
  • Served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for neglected and abused children. CASA, a non-profit organization, is a little known, unsung, hero to children. I highly recommend it.
